Organizing a Climate Fresk in Your Company

The Climate Fresk is a workshop that raises awareness about climate change based on solid scientific foundations and the principles of collective intelligence. 

Collaborative, engaging, empowering but not guilt-inducing, this workshop promotes team cohesion and is the ideal event to involve your employees in your company’s climate strategy. 

As a certified facilitator and trainer, I have the pleasure of leading this workshop since 2020, and I witness the impact it has on the hundreds of participants I have had the chance to reach. 

As I write these lines, nearly 2 million people around the world have participated in a Climate Fresk. For nearly half of them, it was a workshop organized by their company. 

 

How does a Climate Fresk workshop take place?

Duration

The Climate Fresk lasts 3 hours, ideally 3.5 hours in a corporate setting. 

Number of participants

The workshop requires a minimum of 5 participants. Beyond that, anything is possible. There is no maximum number of participants for a workshop. 

You can organize it for your team, your department, or even all of your staff. If the number of participants is large (sometimes reaching several hundred people), they will be divided into multiple groups, and a team of facilitators will be mobilized. 

Process

A Climate Fresk workshop unfolds in several phases, particularly: 

  • The scientific part: During this phase, participants will create the Climate Fresk using 42 cards, discovering or deepening their understanding of how the climate system works, as well as the causes and consequences of its disruption. This part can be viewed as a simplification of the IPCC reports.
  • The emotions part: Here, we will address the emotional aspects related to climate change. 
  • The actions part: We will discuss how to take action, the obstacles one might encounter, and the levers that can be activated. 

Materials

I will provide all the necessary materials. The only thing you need to arrange on your side is to provide a suitable space for the number of participants and large tables on which the fresk will be constructed. 

The workshop can be organized in any type of environment, from your meeting room to a campsite in nature during a retreat. Anything is possible. 

Languages of facilitation

The workshop can be facilitated in French, English, and Dutch.

Your employees don’t have a scientific background. Is it a problem?

Not at all ! It is my role to simplify the information. No special knowledge is required to participate in a Climate Fresk. 

 

Your employees are familiar with the topic. Is there really any benefit in having them participate in a Climate Fresk ?

Absolutely. Those who are knowledgeable appreciate the opportunity to delve deeper into certain aspects and to leave with a systemic understanding of the phenomenon.
